Fin Whale

The Fin Whale is the second largest animal in the world after the Blue whale. The body is distinctly brown with much paler undersides. It is an endangered species declining from over 700,000 at the start of last century to recent estimates of less than 120,000. Despite the IWC moratorium Iceland and Japan resumed hunting in 2009.

Successful whale photography has to include several factors: there needs to be scale, diagnostic identifiers should clearly be seen and some unique behaviour demonstrated. Not necessarily claiming to have got any of those with this effort.
